A 1992 graduate of Hanoi Medical University, Dr. Hong Anh started out her career in Bach Mai Hospital’s ICU so as to develop a strong medical competency in challenging situations, working for more than 15 years in the emergency field. She moved to Ho Chi Minh City in 2003, working initially at Buu Dien hospital before moving to a university medical center to perform ICU work and serve as an outpatient GP. She found herself well suited to talk with patients in a generalist setting.
In 2017, Dr. Hong Anh undertook a fellowship in Malaysia to learn about the integration of ultrasound in intensive care. Working now for Raffles Medical since 2018, she has been able to work as a physician as well as an ultrasound instructor for her colleagues, conducting some basic teaching online. She finds her work as a general practitioner fulfilling now that she is not only focusing on patients in critical condition—especially during the Covid-19 era when preventive medicine has proved very important. This understanding has led her to focus on corporate health checks at our practice.
Told by patients and colleagues alike that she was “born to be a doctor”, Dr. Hong Anh follows the advice of her teachers, mentors, and uncles in understanding that her profession requires more than a knowledge of medicine—believing that one should also possess strong social and emotional skills.
